Pak still backing terrorists: Nato

Anyone Listening?

WASHINGTON: Pakistan is in the crosshairs of western military commanders as the source, supplier and instigator of terrorism, notwithstanding periodic certifications from the Bush administration that is a frontline ally in the war on terror.

Commanders from five Nato countries – the US, Britain, Denmark, Canada and Holland — whose troops have just fought the bloodiest battle with the Taliban in five years, are demanding their governments get tough with Pakistan over the support and sanctuary its security services provide to the Taliban, according to Ahmad Rashid, a prominent Pakistani analyst and author of an well-known book on Taliban.

In a dispatch from Afghanistan that is roiling Washington, Rashid says Nato’s report on Operation Medusa, an intense battle that lasted from September 4-17, “demonstrates the extent of the Taliban’s military capability and states clearly that Pakistan’s Interservices Intelligence (ISI) is involved in supplying it.”

Mulford says India has shown proof of Pak hand

NEW DELHI: India has shared with the US evidence of Pakistan’s involvement in the Mumbai train bombings, US Ambassador David Mulford said on Friday. He did not give details about the evidence or say if the US was satisfied with it.

Mumbai Police Commissioner AN Roy has accused Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence of masterminding the bombings, which are believed to have been executed by the Lashkar-e-Tayiba.

Referring to the Indo-US strategy to counter terrorism, Mulford said: “We offered to help India in the investigative and forensic aspects of the case. We are working with the Indian government.”

The envoy emphasised that there can be no excuse for terrorism and that the US rejects terrorism “however it happens, wherever it happens”.

Channel shows video of Mohammed as beer-drinking camel

Here we go again!

COPENHAGEN: Denmark’s national TV2 channel broadcast on Friday excerpts from a video made by members of an extreme-right party showing the Prophet Mohammed as a beer-drinking camel and a drunken terrorist attacking Copenhagen.

Filmed in August, the video shows young adherents of the Danish People’s Party mocking the Islamic prophet during a summer party, with some portraying Mohammed dressed in a turban and wearing a belt with explosives as others look on in laughter.

The images were shown on TV2 only fleetingly, with a youth playing the part of Mohammed visible only from the back, as well as a drawing.

The editor-in-chief of the television station, Lars Bennike, emphasized that the purpose of “showing the short video sequence was not at all to show the drawings or the antics of the youths” in the DPP.

India To UK: ‘When will you lump ISI with al-Qaida?’

I will wait for Mr.Blair answer. I hope this time West will realize that India is also victim of terrorism.

LONDON: When Prime Minister Manmohan Singh meets his British counterpart Tony Blair next week, India will seek an upfront response on that key question in the five-year-old US-led, UK-backed so-called war on terror: How long will the West publicly refuse to lump the ISI along with al-Qaida, the Taliban, Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashar-e Toiba into one big bag marked bloody trouble?

Informed sources said Singh would seek an urgent response from Blair on this key question when the two prime ministers have a tete-e-tete on Tuesday.

This is the first time India will so conclusively lump the ISI with al-Qaida ideologues in a key Western capital, observers said.

Pope calls for dialogue with Islam, again

Question is are they really ready to have open dialogue?I hope and pray that this time some more moderate mulims leaders will come up with open heart. Muslim world should forgive and forget the whole unpleasant episode and they must demonstrate by their behavior that their faith really teaches and practice Peace!

Pope Benedict XVI stressed again the importance of promoting dialogue between cultures and religions, especially between Christianity and Islam and of renouncing all forms of terrorism.

After receving an official visit from Heinz Fischer, President of Austria, the Vatican press office issued a communiqué that revealed that the two talked about “issues of special importance in the current context of the world, such as intercultural and inter-faith dialogue.

India not reciprocating, says Mirwaiz

Well we cant reciprocate same feeling because we are not Terrorist state as Pakistan. Yeah even India understand that ” Pakistan had been very accommodative” but what you accommodate terrorist? Don’t talk rubbish first reciprocate feeling for peace which India started by abandoning the terrorist camp and jihadis based in Pakistan.

Washington: Moderate Hurriyat Conference leader Mirwaiz Umer Farooq has accused New Delhi of not “reciprocating” the gestures by Islamabad for finding an amicable solution to the Kashmir problem.

The Mirwaiz, who is here to participate in seminars organised by the Kashmiri-American Council, told reporters that Pakistan had been very accommodative.

“But I see no flexibility in India’s attitude…Unless India reciprocates, I do not see the peace process going anywhere.”

“When we met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, he promised to take a number of steps to improve the situation, to make life easy for ordinary Kashmiris but nothing happened,” he said, accusing the Centre of not fulfilling promises made to Pakistan and the Kashmiri separatist leadership.

Extremists planned mass Prague murders -paper

Here we go again!

PRAGUE, Oct 6 (Reuters) – Islamic extremists planned to kidnap dozens of Jews in Prague and hold them hostage before murdering them, the daily Mlada Fronta Dnes reported on Friday.

The Czech Republic’s leading newspaper quoted unidentified sources close to intelligence agencies as saying the captives would have been held in a Prague synagogue while the captors made broad demands that they knew could not be fulfilled.

When those demands — which were not specified by the sources — were not met, the extremists would blow up the building, killing all who were inside, the paper added.

The paper, which gave other few details, did not say whether any arrests were made and did not specify the identities of the extremists.

On Sept. 23 the government deployed armed guards around dozens of buildings and on the streets in the Czech capital after security services issued a warning that an unspecified attack was imminent.
