Speaking to US financial news service Bloomberg the F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone said India will join the Formula One calendar in 2010. He also confirmed that he is in negotiation with unidentified state government in India to complete the deal so that work on building circuits start soon. So good news, for Indian Formula 1 supporter.

Bernie Ecclestone has revealed he has plans to bring Formula 1 to India as early as 2010. Ecclestone admitted in an interview he was ‘far down the line’ in negotiations with a regional government in India to build a racetrack.
“India is a country that is probably going to grow quicker than China,” Ecclestone told Bloomberg. “We had to make sure we found the right place in India and we have.”
Ecclestone furthermore admitted that there is no return possible for a Formula 1 race at Imola. “It’s bye-bye to San Marino,” Ecclestone said.
