Swahili web game to tackle Aids

Children all over the world first learn their ABCs from the school and from the popular computer game. But the United Nations children’s agency (Unicef) has launched the first computer game to educate children’s and grown up people about AIDS. The game called “What would you do?” (Ungefanyaje?) aimed at halting the spread of HIV and AIDS in Africans nations. Africa accounts for most of the world’s 2.3m children who are HIV-positive.

Brilliant idea, hope this sort of game and education program will be translated in other languages too. I would also like to see some famous cartoons and other famous TV programs which are generally aimed for children’s spread some awareness about this deadly disease as most of children do watch cartoon and TV.

Use technology to Stop HIV-AIDS

The United Nations children’s agency (Unicef) has launched the first computer game in Kiswahili, aimed at halting the spread of HIV and Aids.

The game called “What would you do?” (Ungefanyaje?) takes players through various scenarios to explain the importance of prevention and testing.

The UN estimates that around 80% of all young people do not know how to protect themselves from Aids.

The Mean Girl , Lindsay Lohan

One of the most candid interviews ever given by a Hollywood A-lister, the Mean Girl star has claimed that she enjoys sleeping with several partners, rather than dating just one person. I just hope she always use protection. Well she cant be role model that’s for sure.

For Hollywood’s young starlet Lindsay Lohan, variety seems to be the spice of life when it comes to sex. In what could easily be termed as one of the most candid interviews ever given by a Hollywood A-lister, the Mean Girl star has claimed that she enjoys sleeping with several partners, rather than dating just one person.

Sex And The City changed everything for me because those girls would just sleep with so many people. And that’s me. I’m not dating just one person,” Newsoftheworld quoted her, as saying.

“It is the variety of partners everyone likes, especially at my age. I’m like Angelina Jolie, taking on lovers. I don’t need a steady relationship,” said the star.

“I mean if the sex is bad, the relationship’s not going anywhere. Anyway, I don’t even think I have had my best kiss yet,” she added.

Africa’s World of Forced Labor, in a 6-Year-Old’s Eyes

I feel very sorry for these children who at an early age must struggle to work hard to be able to survive. Children are the future of tomorrow’s world, but I am not too sure about the future of this six year old kid. He should be playing with toys and learning to read and write but instead he paddles a canoe a mile out from shore.

It’s hard for me to blame those parents who due to lack of financial capabilities perhaps, no means of education and food leased their kids to Mr. Takyi to work for him as indentured servants. Developed world should do more to help these kids. People of all countries should do more for abolishment of child labor from this earth for ever. We should realize our responsibility ask big nation to support these poor family so that they can send these kids for education. Reading this sort of news really bleeds my heart.

KETE KRACHI, Ghana — Just before 5 a.m., with the sky still dark over Lake Volta, Mark Kwadwo was rousted from his spot on the damp dirt floor. It was time for work.

On Lake Volta in Ghana, Mark Kwadwo, 6, left, scoops water in the canoe of Kwadwo Takyi, rear. Kwabena Botwe, 11, paddles.

Shivering in the predawn chill, he helped paddle a canoe a mile out from shore. For five more hours, as his coworkers yanked up a fishing net, inch by inch, Mark bailed water to keep the canoe from swamping.

He last ate the day before. His broken wooden paddle was so heavy he could barely lift it. But he raptly followed each command from Kwadwo Takyi, the powerfully built 31-year-old in the back of the canoe who freely deals out beatings.

“I don’t like it here,” he whispered, out of Mr. Takyi’s earshot.

Mark Kwadwo is 6 years old. About 30 pounds, dressed in a pair of blue and red underpants and a Little Mermaid T-shirt, he looks more like an oversized toddler than a boat hand. He is too little to understand why he has wound up in this fishing village, a two-day trek from his home.

Indian Call centre workers say ‘no’ to unions

Unionizing IT/BPO sector will hamper the growth of Industry. I hope that it won’t happen in India as this will be a back step and it will reduce the growth rate of most booming industry in India. Foreign clients don’t like unionizing the sector because of the fact that it’s just another way to blackmail them. If India wants to keep this industry alive and keep on growing then please reject any move of Left (CPI) to unionize the IT/BPO sector.

Of course I am really happy to see recent survey conducted by C fore shows that almost 53% employees of this sector don’t want to associate with any union as they also believe that this unionizing of IT/BPO sector will hamper the industry growth and could damage the whole reputation of industry.

Call centres wary of trade unions

It is not an obvious combination. The world of trade unions and that of information-technology (IT) services seem light years away. And that is just how most call-centre employees would like it to stay.

Although the majority of call-centre employees feel exploited — particularly by the long hours they put in at the workplace — they are just as clear that they would rather not call in the trade unions. Not yet, at least.

The findings are part of an opinion poll conducted for the Hindustan Times by C fore. Conducted among 374 IT and ITeS professionals in seven cities across India, the poll found that call-centre employees in Delhi, Gurgaon, Mumbai, Bangalore, Pune, Hyderabad and Chennai believed it was not yet time for unions. The majority went on to add that the formation of trade unions would, in fact, harm the industry in the long run.

The workers felt most aggrieved about long working hours and, perhaps, odd hours — going to work when most of the neighbourhood was preparing to go to bed or was already in bed. Low pay was another grievance and then the lack of facilities, the bane of any low-cost-high-returns operation. That was the response of 42 per cent of the respondents who felt exploited. The majority, 47 per cent, was happy and would not change anything.

UK wants to improve image with Muslims

If this report is correct then I do support the government efforts and heartedly appreciate it. In my opinion government is trying hard and has tried hard in past to convince the British Muslim’s that Government or normal public is not against the religion.

Today most of British Muslim is saying that they are not happy with the policies of government, ok fair enough but you don’t bomb the whole country because you not happy with few elected members of parliaments and their decision. Do you?

No body labeled any Muslims as fanatic or extremist, till they don’t bring religion in every way of life. Take a recent example Muslims organization demanded special treatment from government and they said in this following article that “’If you give us religious rights, we will be in a better position to convince young people that they are being treated equally along with other citizens.”

They asked government to let them implement Sharia Law for their own family matters, which is in my opinion is extremism why the hell a non Islamic country, with his own constitution will allow any other law which can threaten the main entity of country “Constitution”? When you live in democratic country you are abide to follow main constitution law, you can’t make your own laws nor can government give any particular faith favor to practice their own religious law which can challenge the main entity of democratic country “Constitution”.

I said it earlier and still want to say that we as resident or citizen of this beautiful country must understand it is not possible for government to make every one happy at a same time. Because it’s a democratically elected government so they go according to simple rule, majority wins. And government policies doesn’t change by terrorist threats, you can’t bow your heads in front of terrorist and criminals. When ever governments of any country make policies, they make it by taking whole picture in their mind of internal and external threats, so that they can provide better and secure place for their own citizen.

I guess it’s a peak time to have a proper debate about this issue, government should do bit more to help these young Muslims to understand how our policies works. We should bring some really intellectual and scholars who understand a lot more about Holy Quran ( not the one who comes in Sharia TV, they bloody don’t agree with each other statements) to tell these people, what Quran says, and help the government to let these people know about UK governments policies and issues.

Muslims leaders should come forward and give proper statements and assure these young and vulnerable people, that government and normal public of this country is with them, they are not isolated and neglected. We need proper Muslims scholars (not moderate or extremists Muslims) to do this job.

Make this country, more safe and secure.

LONDON – The British government would like to change the perception in the Muslim world that its foreign policies are hostile as part of reforms aimed at reducing terrorism, according to Cabinet documents obtained by a newspaper and published Sunday.

The Sunday Telegraph said it had obtained Cabinet documents that suggest the government aim for a “significant reduction in the number and intensity of the regional conflicts that fuel terror activity.” In an ideal world, “the Muslim would not perceive (Britain) and its foreign policies as hostile,” the documents said.

India Sees Retail as Next Offshoring Opportunity

Retail Industry is going to add new dimension in India off shoring Industry, thanks to big boom of retail industry in India itself. Many retail giants are looking to cut their cost and it’s a fact in today’s competitive world every one wants to save even single penny. Retail industry are not only looking towards India for sourcing cheap goods but also for outsourcing some of their core function like Finance, Administration and Supply Chain Management.

Offshoring is all set to take on a new dimension, thanks to the retail boom in India. Retail giants are looking at India, not just for sourcing goods, but for outsourcing their core processes. The retail offshoring business is set to double in the next couple of years from around US$500 million currently.

Leading international retailers, who have looked at India as an offshoring destination for traditional back and front office processes — HR, finance and customer support — are increasingly discovering the country as “hot” for their core processes too.

These include merchandise planning, training, supply chain and loyalty program management, store administration and customer analytics. Says Arvind Singhal, chairman, Technopak, “As global retail biggies set foot here, they would gradually start offshoring niche processes to India from their established bases. This is still at a nascent stage, though.”

Normal man spends about six months of his life in gazing opposite sex

So what’s your favorite pastime? Research shows that Men’s favorite pastime is ogling at women. Normal man spends about six months of his life in gazing opposite sex. As far as I know, I guess most of the women do like attention so nothing wrong in it.

Men spend maximum time ogling at women!

It may be a furtive glance or an impudent glare, but most men would vouch for the fact that their favourite pastime is sizing up women, and now a research has revealed that an average man spends six months of his life leching at the opposite sex.

He takes a sneak peek an average of eight times a day for up to two minutes at a time.

Girls also check out men but they are subtler at around twice a day for just 90 seconds.

According to a survey by internet firm Buy Specs4Less.co.uk , while men’s obsession with women’s busts makes their eyes inadvertently turn towards them before roving to their behind and legs, women are more drawn towards a man’s eyes.

Muslim community to blame for inviting ridicule: Hameed

Good to see that some people are understanding our point of view “Stop The Blame Game”. Mr.Hameed speech remind one famous quote of Wayne Dyer quotes American motivational Speaker and Author

“All blame is a waste of time. No matter how much fault you find with another, and regardless of how much you blame him, it will not change you. The only thing blame does is to keep the focus off you when you are looking for external reasons to explain your unhappiness or frustration. You may succeed in making another feel guilty about something by blaming him, but you won’t succeed in changing whatever it is about you that is making you unhappy.”

We need more people like him, who can understand the value of our beloved country and help others too integrate with it and live peacefully.

London, Oct 26 (ZEENEWS.COM) Blaming Muslims in Britain for not doing enough to stop their own people from trying to “radicalise the faith”, the High Sheriff of Greater London, Dr Khalid Hameed has said that the community has to shoulder the burden for bringing the faith into “ridicule.”

“We have ourselves done everything possible to invite ridicule on the faith,” Hameed said while addressing a function to celebrate Eid here last night.

He noted that “a small minority” among the Muslim community destroyed harmony and peace of the majority but the community as a whole has failed to talk to them and bring about a change in their thinking. “The community must not give a cloak of respectability to those elements which are trying to radicalise the faith.”

Hameed said the Muslim holy book did not advocate killing of innocent people. “In fact, killing of innocent people and committing suicide in the name of religion are banned by the Quran,” he said.

India flawed by focus on sex in campaign against AIDS: study

Recent study said India is making big by mistake assuming that HIV- AIDS mostly spread by sexual intercourse and especially with prostitutes. It is correct that people do get the infected with HIV-AIDS from prostitutes but this is not only source of overwhelmingly spreading of this deadly virus in our beloved country. According to UNAIDS India got 5.7 million people living with HIV-AIDS, the highest figure in the world. If India needs to restrict this figure and wants reduce the figure in coming years then she needs to start programs which educate the people about all the sources of catching this deadly virus.

The health awareness programs which India is running at the moment is not capable of educating the people of all others sources by which they can get caught HIV-AIDS.

If Government of India keep ignoring threats from other sources in health awareness programs running to educate people about HIV-AIDS, in particular the re-use of unsterile instruments in hospitals, cosmetic services, dental surgeries and tattoo parlours, then I wont be surprised if this figure get double in coming years.

PARIS (AFP) – India is making perilous mistakes in its fight against AIDS by assuming the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) is being spread overwhelmingly by sex and especially by prostitutes, a study warns.

India is considered by many specialists to be an easy target for AIDS, despite the health authorities’ insistence that they are making headway against the disease.

India is making perilous mistakes in its fight against AIDS by assuming the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) is being spread overwhelmingly by sex and especially by prostitutes, a study warns.(AFP/File/Dibyangshu Sarkar)

In May, the Geneva-based agency UNAIDS said India had 5.7 million people living with HIV/AIDS — the highest figure in the world, ahead of South Africa where the figure stands at 5.5 million. The government says the tally is 5.2 million.

The new study, published by Britain’s prestigious Royal Society of Medicine, does not wade into the row over these figures, but instead lashes India’s assumption that sex, especially with prostitutes, is the main driver for new infections.
