‘Terrorist’ is freed in Pakistan

Founder of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LET) Hafiz Mohammed Saeed is freed by Pakistani court yesterday. Only few day ago our Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said that Pakistan would have to ‘walk the talk’ on controlling terrorism. Now I will wait for reaction from our government.

A Pakistani court yesterday released one of India’s most wanted terrorist suspects, casting a shadow over an announcement about peace talks between the nuclear-armed neighbours next month.

Hafiz Mohammed Saeed is the founder of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) group, which India accuses of carrying out a string of terrorist attacks, including the Bombay train bombings that killed 186 people in July. India has repeatedly asked Pakistan to extradite Mr Saeed, whose group fought Indian forces in the disputed region of Kashmir and was blamed for an attack on the Indian parliament in 2001.

  1. It all depends on what Law that the Court made their decisions on. If the law are not there to support the Courts, then there is little they can do.

  2. Liz hit the nail on the head there. Also, its possible Musharraf made the decision behind the scenes. India need to be on their guard, an attack might happen any time soon.
